How many times that people are arguing about what is the difference between Geforce and Quadro??? Just Google them in the net and you’ll see countless post about that, today I’m very exciting to try what is the difference between the real Quadro and the “fake” one a.k.a Softmod Quadro.
So what is the main different between the original Geforce card with professional Quadro card, basically the Geforce card is created for end-user like gamer and every day use while the Quadro card is more focused for professional use like CAD/CAM and everything that related to that. If you in to the technical words then, look below. Here is some feature that owned by Quadro card…
1. Anti-aliased points and lines for wire frame display
2. OpenGL logic operations
3. Up to eight clip regions (GeForce supports one)
4. Hardware accelerated clip planes
5. Optimization on Memory usage for multiple graphics windows
6. Support for two-sided lighting
7. Hardware overlay planes
8. Support for quad-buffered stereo for shutter glasses
9. Unified driver Architecture
10. Application Optimization
From my point of view, what separate the Geforce and Quadro card is the hardware capability from point 1 – 8. And the last 2 point is by utilizing a Quadro driver. With using Quadro driver you’ll gain some major performance increase in almost Open GL application, in case you’re asking me why… The answer is simple the nVidia Quadro driver is different from nVidia Geforce driver, the Quadro driver is highly optimized for Open GL.
Let’s move to the next section, how to do the magic. Change your Geforce card into Quadro, off course the fake one.
